It was great to read of WPAX, I produced radio shows for the station with my partner at the time, Linda Meyer. Ms.Neff mentions, " I still remember a gay activist group taping a program that urged homesick American troops in the trenches to hug one another and have a good cry. "

That was actually Linda & I, (a heterosexual couple). We had Taylor Mead read a poem urging soldiers and generals to lay down their warlike ways and love each other, then come home, and Taylor would make love to them. We recorded it at the WPAX studio @ 225 Lafeyette St. I layered Taylor's rap/poem over the Beach Boys GOD ONLY KNOWS, and they synched nicely--- one of my fave productions.

I think Linda and I were the only non-aligned hedonists producing shows--- we wanted our soldiers to have their libidoes tweeeeked--- to shake them up.

There was a woman/groupie, who wrote poetry about her encounters with the stars, so we did a show with her being our guest dj. She would play a record, then read her juicy poem about that rockstar. She was fearful about anyone knowing her identity because she had a straight media job. So on the spot she took the name Cherry Vanilla. That then became her alter ego and she went on to some renown in that persona.

William Kunstler was our attorney, and one day Linda and I and Abbie and I believe John G. as well, were summoned,
along with a few other producers, to 225, where WK told us that the House Un-American Activities Committee had us in their sights, and if we persisted, we would be hauled before them as traitors. We agreed to continue broadcasting. Shortly after, WPAX became an issue at the Paris Peace Talks and Madame Bihn requested that we stop broadcasting so she might gain concessions from the USofA.

There's more, of course, but great to be wallowing in the headiness of those times--- thanks to RN, JG, and MG!

And John's Dinkins encounter--- priceless!

I stand by my (email) story:{No complaints
                   re-spelled: compliaiment}

Man, I'm still digesting the first smoke. So far, truly excellent. But a bit too Pynchon/Proust/Dostoevsky/Tolstoy/
Rimbaud/Bob Dylan/Dylan Thomas like for my taste.
On the real to reel

Futilitarian is such great word, you should copyright it or trademark it and license it to somebody in the automotive industry that doesn't make automobiles for the nation of miserable fucks.

Just saying.

And thanks for the thoughts about my ass.
